What is the difference between mean, median, and mode?
The mean is the sum of all values divided by the count. The median is the middle value when sorted. The mode is the most frequently occurring value. Each measures the center of a dataset differently, and the best choice depends on whether outliers are present and the type of data you have.
How do I calculate the average of percentages?
You can average percentages the same way as any numbers — add them together and divide by the count. However, if the percentages represent different group sizes (like survey response rates from differently sized groups), a weighted average is more accurate and requires multiplying each percentage by its group size first.
What does the range tell me about my data?
The range is the difference between the highest and lowest values. It measures the spread of your dataset. A large range means high variability — values differ significantly. Can a dataset have more than one mode?
Yes. When two values appear the same number of times and more frequently than all others, the dataset is bimodal and has two modes. If three values tie, it is trimodal. When all values appear equally often (or only once), the dataset has no mode at all, which is also a valid and meaningful result.
