Does the age difference between two people change over time?
No. The age difference between two people is fixed and never changes. If Person A is 5 years older than Person B today, that 5-year gap remains constant throughout their lives. Only their individual ages increase — the difference between those ages stays exactly the same from birth to death.
Why is my result different when I subtract birth years mentally?
Subtracting birth years gives only an approximate gap because it ignores the month and day. Two people born in different months of the same year can be nearly a full year apart. Our calculator uses the full date including month and day, so the result is accurate to the exact day rather than just an estimate.
How does the calculator handle leap year birthdays on February 29?
For people born on February 29, the calculator treats their birthday as February 28 in non-leap years. This is the most common and legally accepted convention. The age difference calculation remains accurate because both birthdates are processed using the same consistent calendar rules.
Can I use this calculator for more than two people, like three siblings?
You can run the calculation multiple times — once for each pair. For three siblings A, B, and C, calculate A vs B, then B vs C, then A vs C. Each result gives the precise gap for that pair. There is no single calculation that covers three people simultaneously, but multiple runs take only seconds.
What is the largest age difference the calculator can handle?
The calculator can handle any two dates within the standard Gregorian calendar range supported by modern browsers, typically from the year 100 CE to the year 9999 CE. That means you can calculate age gaps of hundreds of years if needed, such as for historical research or genealogy projects.
